The West Moors FarmFest Plough Fundraiser

West Moors FarmFest is a family friendly festival raising money for local charities.

20% of funds raised from its 2023 festival (up to a maximum of £600) will be donated as a one-off grant to a school, small voluntary or community organisation doing great work in the local area.

The remaining 80% of funds raised for this year’s FarmFest will be put towards a new plough for Sturts Farm.

Why are ploughs important?

Ploughs help prepare the soil for seeding or planting crops. This large piece of farm machinery gets dragged through the soil, creating open furrows. This process helps nutrients come to the surface while also aerating the soil to hold more moisture. The faster the land can be prepared, the more food can be produced locally.

What’s wrong with the existing plough?

The current plough on the farm is broken, causing huge issues and slowing down vegetable growth and food production. Sturts Farm supports adults living with learning disabilities, so it is also taking work away from the people the charity supports. If the current plough becomes completely unusable, the organisation’s product halts, which also halts its income. A new plough will benefit the charity, and the people the organisation supports, but also the wider community too.

How can I help?

• Buy a ticket to West Moors FarmFest! All profits from this family friendly festival are going to local charities, one of which is Sturts Farm.

• If you can’t come to the festival, an easy way to help is to like and share our posts to your friends and family.

Make a direct donation to our fund. Every penny counts and is very much appreciated.
