Interview with jenny, meditation teacher
Did you know, there’s a new meditation class happening in Gullivers Wellness Yurt? The last Wednesday of the month, from 8-9pm, this Deep Relaxation Evening offers a chance to give your wellness a boost and hopefully leave you feeling de-stressed and rested.
We caught up with meditation facilitator Jenny, aka Flourish Wellness For Me, to find out more about her approach…
Tell us a little about yourself
Hi, I’m Jenny and I’m a reiki healer and meditation facilitator that lives locally to Gullivers. I have two teenage sons and a doggo who loves running around the forest! Having worked myself to burnout in a previous career, I know how important it is to look after our mind, body and soul to live a full and happy life.
What do you love about what you do for a living?
I love helping people to feel better, whether it’s through a deep relaxation or a reiki session (or a mixture of the two!), people leave feeling calm and rested.
What can people expect from your sessions at Gullivers?
The Deep Relaxation Evenings are a mix of guided meditation, reiki and hypnosis. People lie down tucked under a blanket and, using some techniques to promote healing and relaxation, can hopefully disconnect from their busy minds and leave the sessions feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
What’s the most common misconception people have about meditation?
They think they won’t be able to relax or stop their thoughts, but just allowing themselves to rest and stay still will have massive benefits for their whole wellbeing.
How do you hope that your sessions might help people?
We all need me time. However busy our lives get, we need to find the time to serve ourselves. We can’t pour from an empty cup. Some people feel lasting benefits from just one session and some will notice a difference after a few sessions.
What’s one small change that everyone could do to improve their mental wellbeing?
Rest and be present. Even if it’s just two minutes of deep breathing, you will allow your nervous system a chance to take a break.
Pausing through the day to notice what you see around you, what you can smell, what you can taste and feel will bring you back to the now.
